Enable Garmin Plugin on Chrome (only on older versions of Chrome)

Since 1st September 2015 Chrome 45+ has definitely stopped NPAPI support. This tutorial works only for older versions of the browser. On IE 7+ and Safari 5+ the plugin works properly.

Since April 2015 Garmin Communicator Plugin (GPC) has been disabled by Chrome and it is impossible to transfer geocache and GPX towards Garmin. In this tutorial - also valid for Magellan - we will show how to enable it again for geocaching and not only.

Garmin Communicator Plugin (GPC) uses NPAPI tecnology not supported by Chrome from April 2015.

1. Download and install the last GPC version

If GPC is already installed this operation is not necessary. You can do it directly from Garmin download area following the installation instructions.

2. Enable NPAPI extension

Go to the Google Chrome experimental features, typing the following URL in the address bar:

Click on "Enable" in "Run NPAPI" (yellow highlighted). [Abilita = Enable].

3. Restart Chrome and authorize GCP

This authorization must be given only on first use on every site that asks us.
To enable and test the plugin on go on the cache page and click on top-right on the disable plugin icon:

In this way you can transfer again geocache information on your Garmin or any other GPX data coming from other sites.
